La Framboise Redux

On Tuesday, I reverted to a favorite paddle of mine: around La Framboise Island. I put-in on the causeway and headed downstream.
The ducks were active that day.
And I wasn't the only one to notice!

The water level through the small channel was as high as I have ever seen it. I placed a flag on the map where a small inlet is on the aerial photo. I have never been able to identify it with certainty until Tuesday. There is not much water in it so it's usefulness to paddlers is slim, except for photo opportunities.
And the small dam like structure at the end of the channel.

  1. The narratives and photos of your recent cruises around the islands in the Pierre area certainly highlight the paddling attraction of living there. I always like to see your dog, Scruffy, along for the ride. I bet that he is a willing crew member for your cruises. Sometime this summer I want to load my Folbot in the car and spend a day or so in Pierre taking advantage of the waters that you describe so well.

    Cheers,

  2. I was out Tuesday too, but I went around Farm Island. Starting at the boat ramp you used the other day and getting back to the campground is a paddle of about 6.4 miles and requires a half mile walk back to the ramp to get the vehicle. I got started a little later than I had hoped so I had to push it a little. Just over an hour and a half on the water. The wind made it a bit rough out in the main channel so I didn't get much for pictures.
