“Spend as much time as possible on mountains, in small boats, or otherwise out in the weather; if you never get wet, cold, exhausted or scared, you won’t properly appreciate being dry, warm, rested and safe.” ~ Peter Jay
"I’m an adventuring river rat at heart. Put me on a floating piece of driftwood and I’m happy." ~ Christina Glauner

Bad River Rendeavous
Today was again windy. I talked Chuck into taking an excursion up the Bad River. And what a day to do it! We made it further up the river than I have ever been! We totaled 7.4 miles.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhDwC_AbOPPUwE-_Nd-qBGaOyOi8QRBdZXq0EE34zj0k5oulfT2gpdfHPOg8Fb-E6vPDMONSUsUYeJuXRk2O59yvyc4sIicGK0nS2xAxQG_XRF11yUyNLiRLrXvuLTQVxxS4DEkoPyBeVD/s400/map.jpg)
We launched from the boat ramp at the mouth of the Bad River and Chuck was his usual late self.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipITPwEdFQHyNwx4tFJVvDttA8BzN_TerI1yOBejzQqg0axzC3iv_ETgoXbMQYM5pUZFJLZHRqYmNt92O7uD_0-uLzORjKsDOareeox2Zfd7YuZLBAyWr1VvYff7GiFMv7PeWXaTrUtWHj/s400/IMG_5110.JPG)
About a mile up the Bad River is a draw that has never before had enough water to paddle. Today was different. I couldn't very far up it, but I did make it around a bend.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirQlQUFSw9Fsch_-GsBrU1DzcFJp-_yXX6kdi9inbRT6WkSDq6uyXNj2bk5TKVbT9hOxagBmT3N8j6JCHY2Rgq6juhZo7IjhCh37Qt7qbfSGvH_7eaOGjzWEA1YOco8RIAd-2rjzMbx_Vr/s400/IMG_5112.JPG)
After our endeavor up the draw, a rainstorm passed over us. Nothing to bad, just added some clean water to the Bad River.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSQKBTqxSnMUqwdqW1oOVqma-RApRmTX45gAdjSbkvckeIM4wp7N2sas-uSdIe_B25-NCl16q-uOwl-3GNBKuojG4zLR_3hC7VdVWTC8Ml0DkvQfim7dtJ_MJiHE03hb183m0Cjk3eC038/s400/IMG_5113.JPG)

Don't mind the water spots, but here is a picture of where we had to turn around.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsX7Ff0-wrkaj728FCrw7tpf0h4Ijz5A8ZJBas87CaoR1mA3ir2AgFJc90VKWiS-J9e2CL_CPexTI_AGTYWoRHg2RrizspbdfGDbjCFdJg4aJrh2j7xyOVCExIZEsH1Y6zrTM6EZG4Uy08/s400/IMG_5118.JPG)
And nearing the mouth of the Bad River. That is a pedestrian bridge over the river. It is next to the boat ramp.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiDCoaHViFHBPBpaFu4I-h58k5tfYlDQkSWK-kKIA6AHWv7wFFtaK-vjnxNsBHrm6JTcVxl2BKfsG9OOBQEzdCRm-zpFSIGrGF6GDQJlsactyonoZ792wDkO5ASl-Cm3o-aC5A1ArCR8zW/s400/IMG_5123.JPG)
